HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language.
It is a backbone of web.
HTML is not a programming language.
It is the standard markup language for Web pages.
It makes it possible to organize and format documents.
HTML documents are files that end with a .html or .htm extension.
You can view html documents using any web browser.
The browser reads the HTML file and renders its content.
HTML elements are the building blocks of HTML pages.
HTML elements (tags) are represented by <> tags
There are two main types of HTML elements: block-level and inline tags.
Block-level HTML elements have an opening and a closing that use the <tag></tag> syntax.
The three block level tags every HTML document needs to contain are <html>, <head>, and <body>.
Most inline tags are used to format text. For example, a <strong></strong> tag would render an element in bold, whereas <em></em> tags would show it in italics.
Below is a visualization of an HTML document (an HTML Page):
semantic tags inform browsers about the meaning of content, which benefits both readers and search engines. There are most semantic tags: <article></article>, <section></section>, <aside></aside>, <header></header>, and <footer></footer>.
HTML headings are defined with <h1> to <h6> tags.
<h1>This is heading 1</h1> <h6>This is heading 6</h6>
HTML paragraphs are defined with <p> tags.
<p>This is a paragraph</p>
Hyperlinks are also inline elements that require <a></a> tags and href attributes to indicate the link’s destination.
<a href=" http://www.techsolutionpoint.com/">This is a link</a>
Images are inline elements too. You can add one using <img> without any closing tag. But you will also need to use the src attribute to specify the image path.
<img src="img_techsolutionpoint.jpg" alt="TechSolutionPoint" style="width:120px;height:150px">
HTML buttons are defined with <button> tags:
HTML lists are defined with <ul> (unordered/bullet list) or <ol> (ordered/numbered list) tags, followed by <li> tags (list items):
<ul> <li>Father</li> <li>Mom</li> <li>Brother</li> </ul>
An HTML table is defined with a <table> tag.
Table rows are defined with <tr> tags.
Table headers are defined with <th> tags. (bold and centered by default).
Table cells (data) are defined with <td> tags.
<table> <tr> <th>Name</th> <th>Roll</th> <th>Subject</th> </tr> <tr> <td>Abdullah</td> <td>1201</td> <td>WDPF</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Abdur Rahman</td> <td>1202</td> <td>JAVA</td> </tr> </table>
