How to use the Image Studio

  1. Tap Scan with camera and take one picture per page, or choose photos you already have.
  2. Check the corners in Crop & rotate: they're found automatically, and you can drag any of them onto the paper's corner.
  3. Press Apply crop, then pick a look right under the page (Magic colour, No shadows, Black & white, Print ready…), turn or straighten it if needed. More filters opens Enhance for the full filter stack.
  4. Optionally keep or erase areas, straighten a tilt, read the text (OCR), pick a size and a print layout (A4, 4 × 6 in, ID card, passport photos…), then save the image in a ready-made size or with a one-click preset.

Frequently asked questions

Are my scans uploaded?

No. The camera, edge detection, straightening and clean-up all run in your browser on your own device. Your documents never reach a server.

How does the straightening work?

Image Studio finds the four corners of the paper and maps them onto a flat rectangle (a perspective correction), so a page photographed at an angle comes out square, like a flatbed scan.

How do I get a clean copy for printing?

Choose Print ready in Enhance (or the Print ready PDF preset in Save). It removes shadows, text showing through from the back of the paper, dust and specks, and dark strips along the edges, then makes the letters crisp. Print ready B&W does the same in black and white to save toner. Use Before / After to compare.

Can it remove shadows?

Yes. Magic colour and No shadows measure the paper's brightness across the page and even it out, so hand shadows and uneven light disappear and the paper turns white while the writing stays dark.

How do I copy an ID card?

Scan the front, then the back. Choose Print layout → ID card, or the ID card copy preset in Save: both sides are placed on one A4 page at real card size (85.6 × 54 mm). Print at 100%.

Can I combine filters?

Yes. Enhance works as a stack: for example No shadows, then Black & white, then Sharpen. Switch each step on or off, change the order, and save the stack as My look to reuse it with one click.

Can I keep stamps and signatures in colour on a black & white page?

Yes. Tick Keep stamps & signatures in colour in Enhance: coloured ink (stamps, pen signatures, logos) stays in colour on any look, for example Print ready B&W. In Areas, Auto select finds stamps, signatures, pictures and dark edges on its own: it keeps stamps, signatures and pictures as photographed and erases dark edges. Tap an area to select it and drag its four corners to fit anything, even a tilted stamp; tap again to switch keep / erase / ignore, or draw your own.

Can I save an image in an exact size, like an Instagram post?

Yes. In Save, pick a size card: Social (Instagram post, portrait, story, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube), Print & photos (A4, A5, 4 × 6, passport) or Web & documents. Fill crops the edges to cover the size; Fit keeps the whole page and adds a border in the colour you choose.

Can I print passport photos?

Yes. Choose Resize → Passport 35 × 45 mm, then Print layout → Passport photos: an A4 sheet fills with photos at real size, with thin cutting lines if you like. Or use the Passport photo sheet preset in Save.

Can I make the PDF smaller than 1 MB?

Yes. In Save, pick Under 1 MB, 500 KB or 200 KB (or the Email PDF preset): every page is saved at the best quality that keeps the whole PDF under that size. For images, the limit applies to each image.

Can it read the text in a scan (OCR)?

Yes. In Text (OCR), choose English, Bengali or both and press Read: copy the text or save it as a .txt file. Tick Searchable PDF (or use that preset) and the saved PDF contains the text invisibly, so you can search it and copy from it. The text reader runs in your browser too.

Can it turn sideways or upside-down pages the right way up?

Yes. Auto rotate (in Crop & rotate) looks at the shape of the letters to tell which way up a page is, for most scripts (English, Bengali, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese and more), so it reads only a little of the page. When unsure, it reads a few lines both ways round. Auto rotate all does every page; pages without real text are left as they are.

Can I crop to a normal rectangle instead of the paper's corners?

Yes. Choose Rectangle in Crop & rotate for a straight crop box: drag a corner, an edge or the inside, and pick a shape (Free, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, A4, ID card, Passport). Press Apply crop to see the result; Edit corners goes back.

The page is a little crooked. Can I level it?

Yes. Straighten (in Crop & rotate) measures the slope of the text lines and levels the page; a slider fine-tunes it, and Straighten all does every page.

Can I edit the scan afterwards?

Choose Open in PDF Studio to sign it, add text, page numbers or a password, all in the browser.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. On a phone it uses the back camera, and the tools move to a bar at the bottom like a scanner app.
