Frequently asked questions
Is this 24/7 uptime monitoring?
No. This is an on-demand test: it probes the site from our server while you keep the page open, then stops. Continuous 24/7 monitoring with email alerts is planned for a future update.
How is the uptime percentage calculated?
It's the share of probes where the server answered (any HTTP response, including 4xx errors) out of all probes that ran. Probes that couldn't be sent because of a network problem on your side aren't counted.
What is the 95th percentile response time?
95% of the probes were at least this fast. It shows the slow spikes that an average hides, which is why monitoring tools use it.
Why do response times vary between probes?
Server load, caching, network congestion and DNS caching all change from second to second. The first probe is often slower because DNS answers and the site's own caches are still cold.
Where are the probes sent from?
From our server, a single location. Results can differ for visitors in other countries or on other networks, especially if the site uses a CDN.
