Frequently asked questions
Can this tool crack a password I don’t know?
No. It only removes a password you already know. It can’t crack, guess or bypass an unknown open password — please use it only for files you own or are authorised to unlock.
Why did my file unlock without asking for a password?
Some PDFs have only an owner (permissions) password that restricts printing or copying but can be opened by anyone. Those restrictions are removed without needing a password, as any PDF reader could already open the file.
Is the content or quality changed?
No. Every page is copied as-is into a new, unencrypted PDF, so text, images and quality are identical. The title and author are kept, but bookmarks and fillable form fields aren’t carried over.
Is my password sent anywhere?
No. The password is used only in your browser to decrypt the file, and both the file and the password are forgotten when you leave the page.
Which encryption types are supported?
Standard PDF password security: AES-256, AES-128 and older RC4 encryption. PDFs protected with certificates or DRM systems (e.g. Adobe LiveCycle rights management) can’t be opened.
