  4. Download the repaired PDF and check it in your usual PDF reader.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of damage can be repaired?

Broken or missing cross-reference tables, wrong startxref offsets, a missing trailer, junk before the header and many other structural errors — the kind caused by interrupted downloads or buggy software. If page content is still in the file, it can usually be recovered.

Can every PDF be fixed?

No. If part of the file is missing (for example a download that stopped halfway) the pages stored in the missing part are gone, and a file overwritten with other data can't be rebuilt. The report tells you honestly how many pages were recovered.

Why is the repaired file made of images?

When the structure is too broken to copy pages directly, the tool falls back to a more tolerant reader that renders each page and rebuilds the PDF from those images. The pages look the same, but text is no longer selectable or searchable.

Is my damaged file uploaded?

No. Diagnosis and repair run entirely in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

Can it open a password-protected PDF?

A PDF that's locked with a password isn't damaged — it's encrypted. Use the PDF Unlock tool with the password instead.
