Frequently asked questions
How do I skip the cover page?
Set “First page to number” to 2. The cover stays blank and page 2 gets the start number (1 by default). Change “Start counting at” if you want the second page to read 2 instead.
What does “Page 1 of N” count?
N is the last number that will be printed, so with a skipped cover on a 10-page file the pages read “Page 1 of 9” to “Page 9 of 9”.
Do the numbers appear correctly on rotated or landscape pages?
Yes. The tool reads each page’s rotation and size and draws the number upright in the position you chose as the page is displayed, including pages rotated by 90°, 180° or 270°.
Is the original text affected?
No. Numbers are added as a small new text layer on top of each page; the existing content, links and quality are untouched. The numbers are real text, so they stay sharp when printed.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and edited in your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library, and the numbered file is saved straight to your device.
