Frequently asked questions
How does copy-and-paste underline work?
A combining character such as U+0332 "combining low line" is added after every letter, and the font draws it beneath that letter. Because it's part of the text, the underline comes along when you paste.
Why does the underline look broken in some apps?
Each letter has its own line piece and fonts size them differently, so you can see small gaps or overlaps. The single and double underline styles also underline spaces so the line stays continuous.
Does Discord support real underline?
Yes — in Discord you can wrap text in __two underscores__ for a real underline. Use the Unicode version for places without formatting, like Instagram or X.
Will underlining break emoji or accented letters?
No. Emoji are skipped, and accented letters keep their accents with the underline added below.
How do I remove the underline again?
Paste the text into Unstyle Text — it removes these underline marks but keeps real accents.
