Frequently asked questions

How are words counted?

Words are split using your browser's Unicode word segmentation (Intl.Segmenter), so punctuation is ignored, contractions like "don't" count as one word, and non-Latin scripts such as Bangla are counted correctly.

How is reading time calculated?

Reading time assumes an average silent reading speed of about 238 words per minute for adults; speaking time assumes about 150 words per minute, a typical presentation pace.

What is the Flesch Reading Ease score?

It's a 0–100 readability formula based on average sentence length and syllables per word. Higher is easier: 60–70 is plain English that most adults read comfortably, while below 30 is academic-level text. It's designed for English only.

What is keyword density?

Keyword density is how often a word or phrase appears as a percentage of total words. Search engines don't reward a specific density, but very high numbers (roughly over 3%) usually read as repetitive.

Do characters include spaces?

Both are shown: "Characters" counts every character including spaces and line breaks, and "Characters (no spaces)" excludes all whitespace. Emoji and accented letters count as one character each.

Is my text saved or uploaded?

No. Everything is analysed in your browser and nothing is sent to a server or stored.
