Frequently asked questions

Why convert fancy text back to normal?

Fancy Unicode letters aren't real letters to computers: search, spell-check, translation and screen readers often fail on them. Converting them back makes the text readable and searchable again.

Which styles can it undo?

Bold, italic, script, gothic, double-struck, sans, monospace, bubbles, squares, parentheses, small caps, superscript, subscript, fullwidth, spaced-out, upside-down and mirrored text, plus strikethrough and underline marks and common decorations like โœจ โ€ฆ โœจ.

Will it remove accents like รฉ or รฑ?

No. It only removes the specific line-drawing marks that strikethrough and underline styles add. Real accents and letters from other languages are kept.

What does the NFKC option do?

NFKC is a standard Unicode normalisation that turns compatibility characters into their plain form โ€” for example โ‘  becomes 1, ๏ฌ becomes fi and ๏ฝ—๏ฝ‰๏ฝ„๏ฝ… becomes wide. It's on by default; turn it off to keep symbols like ยฝ or โ„ข as they are.

Why is look-alike conversion off by default?

Some decorations borrow real Cyrillic or Chinese characters that only resemble Latin letters (ะฏ for R, ๅฑฑ for W). Converting them would also change genuine Russian or Chinese text, so it's only done when you ask.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser.
